I was raised Catholic, most of my family on one side is Catholic, and I live in one of the most Catholic states in the US. Most Catholics I know are socially liberal, and the I’m pretty sure that nationally, Catholics are split almost evenly among conservatives and liberals with a slight liberal lead. 61% of US Catholics support gay marriage (according to the Pew Research Forum), AFAB Catholics get abortions at the same rate as non-Catholic AFAB people (according to the Guttmacher Institute). All of that said, Amy Coney Barrett belongs to a very fringe Catholic organization that emphasizes the enforcement of traditional gender roles and did at one point say that Catholic judges should recuse themselves in death penalty cases. So, maybe she shouldn’t be on the Supreme Court.

Honestly just getting kind of tiresome and sad. My dad (1943-2020) spent his entire life calling the US a 'Banana Republic' saying that for all the good they did in ww2, everything that followed was cultural imperialism and what not.
