But I do think think they should be defended “to the death” until we have some that is better at achieving the social goods the founders attempted to set up. That is “majority rule” on issues where the government has a say, hard restraints against the state on matters where they don’t, and a ferocity around local control. I would also say that we are due for a reset because of the severe erosion of those three principles in the last 100 years.

Honestly just getting kind of tiresome and sad. My dad (1943-2020) spent his entire life calling the US a 'Banana Republic' saying that for all the good they did in ww2, everything that followed was cultural imperialism and what not.
