The only reason states' voters are a monolith right now is because of the electoral college. Larger states like California and Texas have large amounts of Republicans and Democrats respectively. They and most other states have a significant portion of voters who are effectively disenfranchised for the presidential election by the electoral college. You can't say that every Californian will vote for the Democratic party and every Texan will vote for the Republican party.

Honestly just getting kind of tiresome and sad. My dad (1943-2020) spent his entire life calling the US a 'Banana Republic' saying that for all the good they did in ww2, everything that followed was cultural imperialism and what not.
